Monday, June 16, 2025 – Northern Virginia: The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe flood warning for parts of Northern Virginia early this morning. The warning was released at 3:27 a.m. ET and is active until 6:15 a.m., with officials warning that flooding is either happening or expected very soon.
This alert affects around 2.1 million residents in several counties, including:

City of Manassas
City of Manassas Park
Fairfax County
Loudoun County
Prince William County
The warning follows deadly flooding in nearby West Virginia, where at least three people have died, and several others are still missing.
What to Expect
NWS officials said rivers, creeks, streams, and other flood-prone areas are rising fast due to ongoing rain and storm runoff. Between 1.5 to 3.5 inches of rain have already fallen, with an additional 0.2 inches possible in some areas.
The warning includes potential flooding in:
Centreville
Reston
Annandale
Springfield
Herndon
Fairfax
Vienna
Ashburn
Dulles International Airport
Chantilly
Tysons Corner
…and many other areas.
Thunderstorms continue across the region, and heavy rainfall is adding to already saturated ground, increasing the flood risk.

Residents are urged to:
