Jazwell Brown Jailed for Life After Christmas Day Murders in Bletchley

17 June, 2025 18:59

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Jazwell Brown was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murders of his partner Joanne Pearson and neighbour Teohna Grant. The violent attack happened on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, in Bletchley, Buckinghamshire.

At about 6:30 pm on that day, Brown stabbed Joanne Pearson 31 times at their home. After that, he attacked a teenage boy living nearby with a kitchen knife and a baseball bat. The boy managed to survive despite his injuries. Brown also stabbed Joanne’s dog, Tilly, a Staffordshire bull terrier. Although police first believed the dog had died, it was later confirmed that Tilly survived.

Brown then went to the flat next door. There, he attacked Teohna Grant, stabbing her multiple times. Sadly, Teohna died at the scene. Her boyfriend, 29-year-old Bradley Latter, was also stabbed but survived despite severe wounds.

In April, Brown, aged 49, pleaded guilty to two murders and two attempted murders. He also admitted to possessing a knife in a public place and causing unnecessary suffering to Tilly.

Today, Brown was sentenced to life in prison. He must serve a minimum of 38 years and 194 days. He received additional concurrent sentences for the attempted murders, possession of a knife, and injuring the dog.

Brown’s defence lawyer said he showed remorse and was “profoundly sorry.” The prosecutor told the court the attacks were unprovoked and happened while Brown was under the influence of cocaine.

The teenage boy hid in a bathroom and called the police during the attack. He described the event as “like watching a horror film.” There was no warning or argument before the violent attack.

Family members of both women spoke after the sentencing. Joanne’s family said she was a loving person who cared deeply for those around her. They remembered her happy moments and the strong bond she shared with her dog Tilly.

Teohna’s family expressed their heartbreak over the loss. They described her as kind and loving. They said her death left a large hole in their lives and that she deserved more time to live.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin praised the bravery of emergency services. He said the events were tragic and shocking. He thanked the families for their trust during the investigation and hoped the sentencing would help start their healing journey.
