How To Use Online Taxi Verification App in Islamabad
Online Taxi Verification App launched in Islamabad; how to use it
In a major step towards digital policing and public safety, Islamabad Police have rolled out a cutting-edge Taxi Verification App, empowering citizens of the federal capital to verify taxis before beginning their journey.
This smart initiative is part of the police department’s broader vision for tech-driven law enforcement and citizen-centric services. The app is available for free download on the official Islamabad Police website, reflecting the force’s commitment to innovation and public trust.

How the App Works
The process is simple and user-friendly. Once installed:
-
Scan the QR Code displayed on any taxi.
-
The app checks the vehicle’s registration in the Islamabad Police Taxi Verification System.
-
If verified, the app confirms the taxi’s credentials and allows users to proceed with confidence.
This quick verification helps identify registered, safe taxis — giving riders an extra layer of security, especially during night hours or in isolated areas.
A Milestone in Tech-Based Policing
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad praised the launch, stating: “This initiative is about giving power to the people. With just a smartphone and our app, any citizen can make sure they’re stepping into a safe, verified vehicle.”
Officials highlighted that the move will discourage unregistered and potentially unsafe taxis, helping to curb crimes like theft, harassment, and impersonation.
Leading by Example in South Asia
Pakistan’s capital is now among the few cities in South Asia actively using QR-code-based verification systems in the transport sector. The app is being seen as a model of smart governance, aligning with Prime Minister’s Digital Pakistan Vision.
Citizens React Positively
Early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Citizens are hailing it as a “life-saving tool”, especially for students, women, and working professionals.
“I often travel late after university classes. This app gives me peace of mind,” said Fatima Asif, a student at Quaid-e-Azam University.
