20 June, 2025 13:50

June 20, 2025 – A woman has been charged with the murder of 69-year-old film director Jennifer Abbott, who was found stabbed to death inside her Camden flat last week.

The victim, who was also professionally known as Sarah Steinberg, was discovered in her home on Mornington Place, Camden, at 6pm on June 13. The London Ambulance Service called the Metropolitan Police after reports of an unresponsive woman.

When officers arrived, they found Ms Abbott dead, wrapped in a blanket with tape across her mouth, according to claims made by neighbours. Her beloved corgi dog Prince, reportedly locked in the bathroom for up to three days, was found alive but distressed.

Who Has Been Charged?

Nancy Pexton, 69, of Gloucester Place, Westminster, has now been charged with murder. She appeared before Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 20, and remains in custody.

The investigation into Ms Abbott’s death is ongoing, with police confirming that a diamond-encrusted Rolex watch was missing from her flat and may be a key part of the case.

What Do We Know About the Victim?

Jennifer Abbott was well known in the local community and often seen walking her dog. Neighbours described her as “gentle” and “friendly,” and said she adored her corgi Prince, calling him “her life.”

Police believe she may have last been seen alive on June 10, three days before her body was discovered by her niece and neighbours.

A post-mortem examination revealed that she died from sharp force trauma, confirming she was fatally stabbed.

Possible Robbery Motive

Detectives are exploring the possibility that the motive for the murder may have been robbery. The missing Rolex with a diamond face has not yet been recovered, and officers continue to appeal for information from the public.

Community Reaction

Mourners have left flowers near her home, and police remained at the scene throughout the week as forensic teams investigated. The murder has shocked the quiet Camden neighbourhood.
