Toni and Shakira Accused of Bullying Emily on Love Island, Fans File Ofcom Complaints

25 June, 2025 15:46

Love Island UK has come under fire after a heated argument aired between contestants Toni, Shakira, and Emily, prompting viewers to file 56 complaints with Ofcom, the UK’s broadcasting regulator.

An Ofcom spokesperson confirmed that the complaints were received over scenes involving “alleged bullying by Toni and Shakira towards Emily” during the June 20 episode of the ITV reality show.

The incident began when Toni, 24, accused Emily, 24, of being overly inquisitive. In a private chat with fellow islander Meg, Toni said, “I can’t listen to her. ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ all the time,” and later added, “Emily’s just f**king nosey.”

Meanwhile, the villa’s relationship dynamics were already tense. Emily is currently coupled up with Conor, who has shown interest in Megan, despite her strong pairing with Tommy. Toni also said Emily was “irritating” her, which added fuel to the fire.

Things escalated when Shakira, 22, confronted Emily directly. She told her, “I feel like in situations, it’s a case of reading the room a little bit…I feel like you’ve not made an effort with us.”

Emily responded, saying, “Some people just want to cause a problem.” Toni jumped in, adding, “It has absolutely nothing to do with this, I don’t give a f**k if you’re with Conor.”

The situation worsened when Emily discussed the confrontation with other Islanders. Shakira pulled Emily aside again and said she sometimes found her “bitchy.” Emily denied sharing their conversation publicly, which left Shakira visibly frustrated.

Following the episode, fans quickly took to social media to express their anger. One viewer posted, “What’s with the bullying in this villa????” Another said, “So uncomfy to watch. All the girls just bullying one another, it’s disgusting.”

As of now, neither ITV nor the show’s producers have made an official statement regarding the complaints.
