SHEIKHUPURA – A troubling incident occurred in Sheikhupura when an elderly woman visiting the Lesco office to correct an error in her electricity bill was allegedly manhandled and thrown out by a security guard.
According to reports, the woman had come to the office to report a mistake in her electricity bill. Instead of receiving help, she faced aggression. A video circulating online shows the security guard dragging her out and forcibly removing her from the premises in full view of other visitors.
The incident has triggered public outrage, with many locals and social media users demanding swift action against those responsible.
A social media user commented, “It is unacceptable and inhumane for a public institution meant to serve citizens to treat them this way.”
Lesco, the Lahore Electric Supply Company, oversees electricity services for the Lahore Division, which includes the districts of Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Nankana, and Okara, all located in Punjab, Pakistan.
Authorities have not yet released an official response to the incident.
This event has once again raised concerns about the conduct of public service staff and the inadequacy of grievance redressal mechanisms for citizens, particularly women.
