Which Roads Will be Closed in Karachi for 8th, 9th, and 10th Muharram 2025?

Traffic Plan for Muharram Processions Karachi
July 3, 2025 – The Karachi Traffic Police have issued a detailed Muharram traffic plan for the 8th, 9th, and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram 1447 Hijri. The plan outlines procession routes, road closures, and alternate routes to manage traffic during the days of mourning.
These days mark significant religious processions. Authorities have taken steps to ensure security and smooth movement across the city.
Main Roads Closed
The main procession will start from Nishtar Park and end at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian. It will follow its traditional route via M.A. Jinnah Road.
For security reasons, M.A. Jinnah Road will be completely closed from Guru Mandir to Tower. Only vehicles with official stickers will be allowed entry.
Alternate Routes for Light Traffic
Here are the routes suggested for small vehicles during the processions:
From Nazimabad:
Lasbela Chowk → Nishtar Road → Garden
From Liaquatabad:
Teen Hatti → Right to Lasbela Chowk
OR
Teen Hatti → Left to Central Jail (Martin Road)
From Hasan Square:
Jail Flyover Underpass → Kashmir Road → Society Light Signal (Shahrah-e-Quaideen) → Nishtar Road
District East Routes:
Shahrah-e-Faisal → Shahrah-e-Quaideen (Noorani Kabab) → Society Light Signal → Right on Kashmir Road
Central Jail Gate (Jamshed Road) → Guru Mandir → Bahadur Yar Jang Road → Soldier Bazaar
District South Routes:
Garden Zoo → Uncle Sarya → Right to Gul Plaza
OR
Left to Coast Guard → Holy Family Hospital
Heavy Traffic Diversion
To keep heavy vehicles away from the procession areas:
From Super Highway or Gulberg:
Liaquatabad No.10 → Nazimabad Chowrangi No.2 → Habib Bank Flyover → State Avenue → Sher Shah → Mauripur
From National Highway:
Shahrah-e-Faisal OR Rashid Minhas → Stadium Road → Sir Shah Suleman → Hasan Square → Liaquatabad No.10 → Sher Shah → Mauripur
No Entry Zones
No vehicle will be allowed beyond Guru Mandir Chowk toward the procession.
Traffic will be diverted through Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar.
Access to M.A. Jinnah Road
Only vehicles with official Muharram procession stickers will be allowed. Entry is from Shahrah-e-Quaideen at Society Light Signal.

Participants are expected to follow the below routes:
Nazimabad → Lasbela → Albela → Garden Jamaat Khana → Soldier Bazaar No.3 → Numaish
Liaquatabad → Teen Hatti → Jehangir Road → Guru Mandir → Numaish
Society Light Signal → Numaish
Gulistan-e-Jauhar / Gulshan-e-Iqbal → University Road → Old Sabzi Mandi → Kashmir Road → Society Light Signal → Numaish
