Pakistani Junior Squash Players Shine at Asian Junior Championship in South Korea
Pakistani junior squash players continued their strong performance at the 32nd Asian Junior Squash Championship in Gimcheon, South Korea. On the fourth day of the tournament, several Pakistani players secured places in the finals across different age groups.
In the Boys Under-13 category, top seed Sohail Adnan defeated India’s Amarya Bajaj in straight games, winning 11-5, 11-2, 11-2. Sohail will face another Indian player, Ayaan Dhanuka, in the final.
The Boys Under-15 category will see an all-Pakistani final after Nauman Khan and Ahmed Rayan Khalil both won their semifinal matches. Nauman, the top seed, beat India’s Aryaman Singh 11-5, 11-1, 11-5. Meanwhile, Khalil defeated Hong Kong’s Yuen Tsz Long 11-8, 11-2, 11-1.
In the Girls Under-13 semifinals, Pakistan’s Mahnoor Ali gave a strong performance by upsetting Malaysia’s top seed Maisarah Binti Mohd Khairul Nizam 11-7, 11-5, 11-7, advancing to the final.
However, Abdullah Nawaz’s journey ended in the Boys Under-19 semifinals after a tough match against Korea’s top seed Jooyoung Na. Nawaz won the first game 11-7 but lost the next three games 10-12, 2-11, and 4-11.
The finals are scheduled for Saturday, where Pakistani players will compete for titles in multiple age groups, aiming to continue their successful run in the championship.
