Australian actor Julian McMahon, best known for his roles in Nip/Tuck, Charmed, and Fantastic Four, has died at the age of 56 in Clearwater, Florida. His death was confirmed by his wife, Kelly McMahon, who shared that the actor had been battling cancer privately.
In a heartfelt statement to Deadline, Kelly McMahon said: “With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer. Julian loved life, his family, his friends, and his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”
She requested privacy for their family and encouraged fans to remember Julian with joy and gratitude.
Cause of Death
Though Kelly confirmed he had cancer, further details about his illness were not shared. Reports also mention that McMahon may have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, along with other underlying health conditions, though none were publicly confirmed by his family or representatives.
A Storied Career
Julian McMahon rose to international fame through a string of memorable TV roles. His portrayal of Dr. Christian Troy on FX’s Nip/Tuck earned him a Golden Globe nomination in 2004. He starred in the series from 2003 to 2010, opposite Dylan Walsh, in a role that made him a household name.
He was also widely recognized as Cole Turner in Charmed, appearing from 2000 to 2003, with a brief return in 2005. McMahon also featured as Detective John Grant in the late ’90s series Profiler.
From 2020 to 2022, he starred as Jess LaCroix in FBI: Most Wanted, leading the CBS show through its first three seasons before his unexpected departure.
On the big screen, Julian played the iconic villain Dr. Doom in Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). He also starred opposite Sandra Bullock in the thriller Premonition (2007).

Born and raised in Australia, Julian McMahon began his acting career on the Australian soap opera Home and Away (1990–1991). He was the son of Sir William McMahon, Australia’s 20th Prime Minister, and socialite Lady Sonia McMahon.
Julian married Kelly McMahon in 2014. It was his third marriage. He was previously married to actress Brooke Burns (1999–2001), with whom he shared a daughter, Madison Elizabeth McMahon, now 25. Before that, he was briefly married to Australian singer Dannii Minogue from 1994 to 1995.
