A heartbreaking accident took place in Bangor, Northern Ireland, late Tuesday night, claiming the life of 16-year-old Jaidyn Rice. The incident occurred around 10:55 PM on July 8 on West Circular Road. Local police are now appealing to the public for any information or footage that may assist their ongoing investigation.
What Happened?
According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), Jaidyn was struck by a car while walking on West Circular Road. Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, but sadly, Jaidyn was pronounced dead at the site.
Roads Inspector Cherith Adair of the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit stated: “Police received a report at approximately 10.55pm of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian. Officers attended with emergency services, but sadly the pedestrian, 16-year-old Jaidyn Rice, was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The road was temporarily closed following the collision but has since reopened.
Appeal for Witnesses
The PSNI is asking for any witnesses, dash-cam footage, or surveillance videos from nearby areas to help them understand the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
Inspector Adair added: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with our inquiries.”

The tragic death of Jaidyn Rice has deeply affected the Bangor community, where she was well-known and loved.
North Down MLA Stephen Dunne offered heartfelt condolences: “I am deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Jaidyn. My thoughts and prayers are with her heartbroken family, friends, and all who knew her.”
He added: “This is a devastating loss for our local community and particularly painful given Jaidyn’s young age. Bangor is a close-knit community, and this tragic news has deeply affected so many people. I would encourage anyone with dash-cam footage or any information to come forward.”
Jaidyn’s untimely death has left her family, friends, and the entire Bangor community in deep sorrow. As the investigation continues, local leaders are urging the public to support the grieving family and cooperate with the PSNI in any way possible.
