Forensic Report Confirms Humaira Asghar Died in October 2024
Actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali was confirmed to have died in October 2024, according to forensic and digital findings. Her decomposed body was recently discovered in a Defence Phase 6 apartment in Karachi during a police operation to vacate the flat on court orders.
Advanced Decomposition Complicates Cause of Death
DIG South Syed Asad Raza stated police broke into the apartment after repeated knocking failed. Inside, they found her body in an advanced state of decomposition. Dr. Samia Syed, who conducted the post-mortem, could not determine the exact cause of death due to the body’s condition but estimated she died several months ago.
Digital Clues Confirm October Timeline
Investigators found her last Facebook activity on September 11 and final Instagram post on September 30, 2024. Her mobile phone was last used in October, and no one in the building saw her after that time. The rent was last paid in May 2024, and utilities were disconnected by the end of October, indicating she likely passed away in that period.
Flat Showed Signs of Prolonged Neglect
The apartment showed no signs of recent activity. Food was expired, kitchen items were rusted, and the water system was dry. With the neighboring flat vacant until February 2025, there was no one around to notice the smell initially. One officer said the open balcony door likely reduced the odor.
Family Initially Refused Body, Now Willing to Accept
Initially, reports suggested Humaira’s family refused to accept her body due to strained relations. However, her brother-in-law has now come forward and confirmed the family is ready to claim her remains. He shared that Humaira’s father was devastated by the news, which led to initial hesitation. Authorities have requested a blood relative to complete legal procedures for the body’s release.
Sonya Hussyn Offers Burial, Industry Shows Support
Actress Sonya Hussyn expressed grief in an emotional video, stating: “What sin did she commit that even her family won’t accept her body? If no one comes forward, I will take the responsibility of her burial — not just as an actor, but as a human being and a Muslim.”
Her message touched many hearts, urging people to check in on loved ones. Actor Yasir Hussain also supported her initiative, saying: “Sonya Hussyn deserves credit for taking this initiative, and if not her, I am here for this cause too.”
Community and Industry Unite
Sonya’s actions received praise from fellow artists including Zainab Shabbir, Ghana Ali, Ali Kazmi, and Sami Khan. Social activist Meherbano Sethi had already stepped in to manage funeral arrangements, showing how the community came together to honor Humaira’s memory.
