Paige Bowyer-Walker, 20, Dies After Being Hit by Speeding Car in Turkey

Paige Bowyer-Walker, a 20-year-old footballer from Gosport, Hampshire, has sadly died after being hit by a car while on holiday in Kemer, Turkey.

The accident happened on the evening of June 28, 2025, while she was out getting kebabs with family friends on the last night of their trip. The car that hit her was said to be going “extremely fast.”

Paige was left with serious injuries. She had a fractured skull, internal bleeding, and was taken to a hospital where she had emergency surgery. Doctors then put her in an induced coma.

Her parents, Nikki Bowyer and Stu Walker, flew to Turkey to be by her side. After one week in intensive care, Paige sadly passed away on July 6 at 8:30 p.m.

Her mother shared the heartbreaking news online, saying: “Her poor little body suffered too much trauma. She just had enough. We will miss her forever.”

Paige had spent nine days in Kemer before the accident. Her family thought about moving her to a hospital in Istanbul, but doctors advised against it due to the risks.

Paige was a much-loved football player at Gosport Borough Youth Ladies FC. Her coach, Emily Taylor, described her as “the life and party of our team.” She said Paige was full of energy, joy, and love for the game.

A GoFundMe page set up by Emily has already raised over £8,495. The money was first meant for medical costs and travel for her family, but now it will be used to bring Paige’s body home and help with funeral costs.

The Gosport Borough FC community is deeply saddened. Team captain Charlotte Lindsey shared a tribute, saying: “You were shy when you joined, but you grew into such a confident young woman. We’ve lost a bright light.”

Charlotte added that Paige will be honored at their first home match of the season: “I hope you are now playing on a football field full of stars.”
