A video showing employees dancing together to welcome a foreign guest at an Indian office has gone viral on social media, drawing criticism from users both in India and worldwide.
The video, initially shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), quickly amassed millions of views within hours.
In the footage, dozens of employees perform a coordinated dance to a Telugu song to greet the guest, while one employee does a solo dance to the Bollywood hit “Tera Boyfriend.” The foreign guest is seen smiling in the background as he watches.
The viral clip sparked mixed reactions. Many social media users condemned the scene, calling it humiliating and a sign of corporate sycophancy and servile mentality. Conversely, others saw it as a positive example of a friendly workplace and a warm, welcoming gesture.
One critic expressed disappointment, arguing that making employees dance like this for a foreign guest is an affront to their self-respect, questioning if Western companies do the same for Indian visitors.
Meanwhile, supporters described the dance as a team-building exercise, pointing out that such activities are sometimes organized in offices to reduce stress, promote teamwork, and warmly receive guests.
