Who was Song Young Kyu? Age, Career, Net Worth & Cause of Death!

South Korean actor Song Young Kyu, best known for his role as Chief Choi in the hit movie Extreme Job, has passed away at the age of 52. According to the Yongin Dongbu Police Station, he was found dead inside a car located in a residential area in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province around 8 a.m. KST on August 4.

“There were no signs of foul play nor was any note found at the scene,” police stated, after an acquaintance who discovered the body reported it to authorities.

Investigation Underway

The police are currently investigating the circumstances of his death, including recent events in his life. Officials have begun questioning his family and are considering the possibility of conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause.

Recent Drunk Driving Incident

Back on June 19, Song Young Kyu had been caught driving under the influence for approximately 5 kilometers in Yongin, where he lived. He was later referred to prosecution. The news became public about a month later.

Following the incident, Song stepped down from his role in the play “Shakespeare In Love.” Two productions he had participated in—“The Defects” and “The Winning Try”—also decided to edit out his scenes as much as possible.
