Who is Samiullah? Afghan Kid Receives Warm Welcome by Afghan Taliban in Kabul

A seven-year-old Afghan kid, Samiullah, who gained international fame — including in Pakistan and Afghanistan — for his remarkable talent in mathematics and mental arithmetic, has returned to Afghanistan, where he received a warm welcome from Taliban officials.

Samiullah had been living with his parents in the outskirts of Nowshera, a city in Pakistan. He became a social media sensation recently after a video showcasing his extraordinary mathematical skills went viral. In various clips, he can be seen solving complex math problems in the blink of an eye, earning him the nickname “Calculator Boy” from social media users.

Upon his arrival in Kabul, the Afghan Ministry of Interior awarded Samiullah with cash, a laptop, educational support, and a promise of full government sponsorship in the future. Afghan authorities stated that every possible effort will be made to further nurture Samiullah’s talents so he can represent Afghanistan on the global stage.

Samiullah hails from the Logar province in Afghanistan. In his viral videos, he is seen solving difficult math questions within seconds. It was reported that he had been residing with his family in a rural area of Nowshera district, Pakistan, before returning to Kabul.

Social media users have praised the recognition and support given to Samiullah, expressing hope that he will have a bright future and serve as an inspiration for other gifted children.
