BISP Payment Through Biometric Scan 2025 – Process, Benefits, and Solutions

11 August, 2025 12:27

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), one of Pakistan’s largest social welfare initiatives, continues to evolve to better serve low-income families, particularly women. Initially launched to help meet essential needs such as food, health care, and education, BISP has now embraced modern payment methods to ensure greater transparency and security.

A major advancement in recent years is the biometric fingerprint verification system for payment disbursement. This process requires beneficiaries to verify their identity using fingerprints matched with NADRA’s CNIC database at official BISP payment points, including bank branches, retail shops, and designated centers. Once verified, payments are released instantly along with a printed receipt.

According to officials, the shift from older methods such as manual cash disbursement and card systems was essential to combat issues like fraud, dependency on intermediaries, and delays. The biometric system ensures “only the registered person can withdraw the payment” and gives women direct control over their funds.

The step-by-step payment process includes locating the nearest payment point, carrying an original CNIC, undergoing fingerprint verification, receiving cash, and collecting a printed receipt.

While the system offers improved security, empowerment, and transparency, challenges like fingerprint scan failures, long queues, and travel difficulties still affect some beneficiaries. BISP advises those facing biometric issues to “try again using a different finger,” clean and dry their hands, or update their biometric data at NADRA Mega Centers.

Future plans include expanding rural payment outlets, deploying mobile payment units, and integrating mobile wallets for greater convenience.
