YouTubers Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans Die in British Columbia Off-Road Crash

12 August, 2025 11:19

Popular Canadian YouTubers Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans, known for their Toyota World Runners channel, have died in a tragic off-road accident in British Columbia’s mountainous Trout Lake region. The couple, who shared their adventurous overlanding journeys with more than 200,000 YouTube subscribers and 72,000 Instagram followers, were killed on August 7 while driving through rugged terrain.

According to Stacey’s mother, the pair passed away together “in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia that they loved so much.”

Stacey and Matthew rose to fame for building the “world’s first Land Cruiser Chinook in 100 days,” a unique off-road camper that combined a Toyota Chinook body with a Toyota Land Cruiser chassis. It has not been confirmed if they were driving this vehicle at the time of the crash.

Details of the Incident

Mark Jennings-Bates of Kaslo Search and Rescue said the couple likely lost control of their vehicle on a rocky trail. Emergency teams reached the scene quickly—one victim was pronounced dead at the site, while the other died later in hospital.

Fellow off-road YouTubers have paid emotional tributes. Shaun, creator of The Story Till Now, said he had spoken to Matthew just the day before the accident, making plans to meet on a future trip. Colin Stuart of Dirt Theory, who was with the couple when the crash happened, said, “Those were the hardest 20 hours I have ever lived. This is a big loss for the off-road community and an even bigger loss for their families.”

Remembered for Their Spirit

In an obituary, Stacey and Matthew were described as “the heart and soul” of the off-roading world. Fans and fellow travelers remember them for their adventurous spirit, creative vehicle builds, and kindness.

Jennings-Bates urged caution to off-road drivers, reminding them to always use available safety devices, even when driving in remote areas.
