First Photos of Vladimir Putin’s Youngest Son, Vladimir Junior, Revealed

15 August, 2025 14:43

For the first time, photos have emerged of what is claimed to be Russian president Vladimir Putin’s youngest son, six-year-old Vladimir Junior. The images were released by Maria Pevchikh, a Russian anti-corruption campaigner and ally of the late Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny.

Pevchikh says both Vladimir Junior and his older brother, 10-year-old Ivan, are secretly educated at home in Putin’s luxury residences. Their private German language tutors, Sofia Bozic from Bosnia and Irene Ens from Germany, are said to earn $36,000 a month each — a sum most Russian teachers would take years to make.

Private Education in Secret Palaces

According to the investigation, the boys are taught inside Putin’s heavily guarded palace in Valdai, where he spends much of his time with their alleged mother, Alina Kabaeva, 42. Kabaeva is a former Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast.

The tutors often travel by train to nearby stations Uglovka and Akulovka, before heading to the secluded estate. The area has extreme security, with at least 12 modern air defence systems protecting it from possible drone or missile strikes.

Who Pays for the Tutors?

Pevchikh claims the salaries are not paid directly by Putin, whose official yearly income is about £94,000. Instead, the money reportedly comes from billionaire Gennady Timchenko, 72, a close friend and long-time supporter of Putin.

Timchenko, worth around £16 billion, is said to act as Putin’s “cashbox” — moving funds through his businesses and making large payments to people linked to Putin. These include a £4.6 million donation to Kabaeva’s foundation and £4.2 million to a clinic tied to Putin’s eldest daughter, Maria Vorontsova, 40.

Life Inside Valdai Estate

The Valdai residence is more than just a palace. It has its own railway line for Putin’s armoured train, a karting track, and a large playground built between 2016 and 2020. The estate is so large that its restricted zone is bigger than the Mediterranean island of Malta.

Earlier this year, Ivan — Putin’s older son — was seen in public for the first time at a gymnastics event in Valdai. Anti-Kremlin sources describe him as “the loneliest boy in Russia,” spending nearly all his time with guards and private teachers.

Putin has never confirmed that he has children with Kabaeva, who is 30 years younger than him. But these new images have sparked worldwide attention and fresh debate over his secret family.
