BISP launches Sahulat Account Payment System for easier, safer aid distribution

BISP 8171 September 2025: Rs. 13,500 payment announced for Rajanpur
On August 13, 2025, Pakistan took a big step to improve how government welfare payments are made. The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has started the Sahulat Account Payment System in selected districts.
This new system will help millions of people get their financial aid quickly, safely, and without extra trouble. Instead of waiting in long lines or depending on middlemen, the money will now go straight into special bank accounts for each beneficiary.
The move is also part of Pakistan’s push toward digital banking and financial inclusion, especially for women who have faced difficulties in accessing bank services.
What is the Sahulat Account?
The Sahulat Account is a simple bank account made only for BISP beneficiaries.
The money will be deposited directly into the beneficiary’s name.
People can withdraw it using a debit card or cheque book.
There are no hidden charges or account fees.
This system removes the need to visit cash distribution centers, helping avoid delays, extra costs, and exploitation.
Why This Change is Important
In the past, many people faced problems like:
Long queues at payment centers.
Middlemen charging illegal fees.
Travel expenses to reach payment locations.
Safety risks while carrying cash.
The new Sahulat Account solves these problems by sending payments directly into personal bank accounts.
Pilot Phase Locations
The system will first be tested in seven areas:
Karachi
Lahore
Islamabad
Quetta
Peshawar
Muzaffarabad
Gilgit
How It Works
Data Sharing – BISP shares the beneficiary’s details with partner banks.
Account Opening – The bank opens an account in the beneficiary’s name.
Notification – Beneficiaries get an SMS with activation details.
Activation – Visit the bank with a CNIC for biometric verification.
Account Tools – Receive a debit card or cheque book to withdraw money.
Payments will be sent through RAAST or IBFT, and beneficiaries can withdraw from ATMs, bank branches, or counters—without paying withdrawal fees.
Extra Support for Beneficiaries
Partner banks will:
Have special help desks for BISP users.
Train staff to assist with account use.
Offer 24/7 customer service.
Key Benefits
Safer payments – No need to carry large amounts of cash.
More convenience – Withdraw money anytime.
Transparency – Every rupee goes directly to the right person.
Empowerment – Gives beneficiaries control over their own money.
Supports digital Pakistan – Moves the country toward a cashless economy.
If you want, I can also make a very short news-style version of this for quick reading. That would be perfect for your PSL or BISP updates style. Would you like me to prepare that?
