18 August, 2025 16:19

A 27-year-old woman, Zahwa Salah Mukhtar, was found dead near Chadwell House Residential Care Home in Romford. Police have launched a murder investigation and arrested four men linked to the case.

Emergency services were called at around 5:30 am after reports of a woman being assaulted. Paramedics and police officers rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Zahwa was pronounced dead on the spot.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Three other men, aged 21, 22, and 35, were taken into custody for allegedly assisting an offender. Police believe this was an isolated incident and that the individuals involved knew each other.

Zahwa’s family released an emotional tribute, calling her a “kind and loving person with high aspirations.” They said she was dearly loved and that her sudden death has left them heartbroken.

Detectives have sealed off the area, including parts of Little Heath Park near Romford. A white forensic tent was set up outside the care home, and officers in hazmat suits were seen collecting evidence, including bags of items from a vehicle.

Detective Superintendent Brian Hobbs confirmed that more officers would remain in the area while investigations continue. He appealed to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in Romford to come forward.

Police are urging people with information to call 101 quoting reference 1625/16Aug or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
