BISP September 2025 Alerts – How to Recognize Fake Messages

26 August, 2025 13:37

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is one of Pakistan’s biggest welfare initiatives. Millions of families depend on it every month to buy food, send children to school, and meet daily expenses.

With September 2025 payments being released, beneficiaries are expecting stipends of up to Rs. 13,500. But at the same time, scammers are trying to trick people through fake messages and calls.

How Scammers Work

Fraudsters pretend to be from BISP and send fake SMS, WhatsApp messages, or phone calls. They usually:

  • Ask for CNIC numbers, bank details, or OTP codes

  • Demand a “service fee” to release money

  • Create urgency by threatening to block payments

Sadly, many people fall victim because these messages look real.

The Only Real BISP Number

BISP only uses 8171 to send messages.

  • If the message is not from 8171, it is fake.

  • Delete suspicious texts immediately.

Signs of a Fake Message

Be careful if a message:

  • Has spelling mistakes

  • Asks for personal details

  • Shares fake links

  • Comes through WhatsApp or social media

Safe Ways to Check Your Payment

  • SMS: Send your CNIC to 8171

  • Website: Visit 8171.bisp.gov.pk

  • Helpline: Call 0800-26477

  • Office: Go to your nearest BISP Tehsil office

All services are free. No one is allowed to charge you.

What To Do If You Receive a Fake Message

  • Do not reply or share your details

  • Do not click on links

  • Verify directly from 8171 or helpline

  • Report the number to BISP or PTA

Why Scams Keep Happening

Scammers target poor families who may not be tech-savvy. They spread fake news about “extra payments” or “double stipends.” Some even use websites and caller IDs that look official.

The government has blocked fake SIMs and websites and is running awareness campaigns. But fraudsters keep finding new tricks, so your awareness is the best protection.

Stay Alert – Protect Your Family

Always remember:

  • Trust only 8171

  • Never share CNIC, OTP, or bank details

  • Payments are free, no fee required

  • Report scams to protect others too
