PM launches electric bike and scooter scheme - September 2025
Pakistan has taken a big step toward clean and affordable transport with the launch of the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025–30.
The policy, introduced by the Government of Pakistan and the Engineering Development Board (EDB), aims to promote electric vehicles (EVs) and reduce the country’s reliance on expensive fuel imports.
What is the NEV Policy?
The NEV Policy is part of the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification Program (PAVE). Its main goal is to encourage people to use electric motorcycles, scooters, rickshaws, and small commercial vehicles.
Under this program, the government will:
Provide subsidies on electric bikes and scooters.
Offer easy installment plans.
Promote clean energy and reduce fuel costs.
Create jobs in the auto and energy sector.
Key Targets for 2025–26
In the first year, the government plans to roll out:
40,000 electric motorcycles
1,000 electric scooters
1,000 small electric commercial vehicles
Applications are open until 30th September 2025.

Petrol bike: around Rs 8,880 per month
Electric bike: around Rs 2,800 per month
Savings: about Rs 6,000 every month

Fill the online form with CNIC and income details
Submit application and wait for verification
Approved applicants will be notified before delivery

Self-employed individuals
Financing & Subsidy
Down payment: Rs 20,000
Monthly installments: Rs 5,000–7,000

Government’s Vision
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that this policy will help Pakistan move toward green mobility, reduce the import bill, and adopt global EV practices. Over the next five years, this program is expected to transform how Pakistanis travel.
