Good News: Families Can Now Track Payments via 8171 Portal
The Government of Pakistan has updated the 8171 Web Portal, making it easier for families under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and Ehsaas Program to check their eligibility and payment status. Officials confirmed that “now, beneficiaries can quickly confirm their records online or by SMS,” a move seen as a major relief for millions waiting to access financial aid.
The portal now offers faster results, more accurate records, and a streamlined process that reduces the need for repeated visits to BISP offices. Families can confirm if they are eligible, see whether payments are ready, and even track the progress of previous applications using only their CNIC number.
There are two simple ways to use the updated system. Through the online portal, users enter their CNIC and a captcha code to receive instant results such as Eligible, Payment Ready, Under Review, or Not Eligible. Alternatively, those without internet access can use the SMS method by sending their CNIC to 8171 and receiving payment details directly on their phone.
Officials also addressed common issues like biometric mismatches, expired CNICs, or non-responses via SMS. They clarified that payments are completely free and warned beneficiaries to report agents demanding deductions.
With 24/7 access, no charges, and a direct link to NADRA records, the updated portal is expected to save families significant time and effort while ensuring transparency in payment delivery.
