Rajab Butt, Iqra Kanwal Summoned by NCCIA in Online Fraud Investigation
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned popular Pakistani YouTubers Rajab Butt, Iqra Kanwal, and Anas Ali over allegations of financial fraud.
According to notices issued by cybercrime authorities, the influencers are accused of misleading people into investing in online trading schemes, which caused many to lose their savings. They have also allegedly promoted online gambling investment plans through their social media platforms. Officials have warned that failure to appear before the agency will be considered as having “no defense or statement to present regarding the allegations.”
The case underscores rising concerns about social media influencers endorsing risky financial ventures, often leading to online scams.
Meanwhile, YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman, better known as Ducky Bhai, “remained in FIA custody for being part of multiple illegal betting platforms in Pakistan.” He faces several charges, including promoting gambling, spamming, and involvement in cybercrimes. Speculation has even emerged, asking, “Is Ducky Bhai the country manager of illegal gambling apps in Pakistan.”
As part of its crackdown, NCCIA has blocked 46 gambling apps nationwide, such as Aviator Game, 1xBet, Dafabet, and Bet365. Investigations revealed that some platforms were also misusing personal data. In collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), officials have warned that the use or promotion of these apps could result in heavy fines or imprisonment.
Authorities are urging the public to stay away from illegal platforms and advising influencers to act responsibly, stressing that this crackdown highlights the increasing dangers of online financial frauds promoted through digital spaces.
