BISP stops payments for families with PMT score above 32 – check details

12 September, 2025 16:53

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has introduced new rules to make sure that only the most deserving families get financial help. A key part of this is the Proxy Means Test (PMT) score. From now on, if a beneficiary has a PMT score above 32, they will not receive any installments.

What Is the PMT Score?

The PMT score is a system used by the government to measure a family’s financial condition. It is based on:

  • Household income

  • Family size

  • Living conditions

  • Education and job details

  • Assets such as vehicles, property, or land

Families with fewer resources get a lower score, while families with more income or assets get a higher score.

Why Payments Stop Above 32

The government has set 32 as the cut-off point.

  • Families with a PMT score of 32 or below will continue to get aid.

  • Families above 32 are considered financially stable and will be removed.

This ensures that the funds reach the poorest and most vulnerable families.

How the PMT Score Is Calculated

The PMT score is calculated during surveys and verification checks. Officials look at:

  • Type of house (pucca or kacha)

  • Number of earning members

  • Education of children

  • Health and disability details

  • Assets like land, tractors, cars, or businesses

How to Check Your PMT Score

Beneficiaries can check their PMT score through:

  • Visiting the nearest BISP office

  • Sending CNIC to 8171

  • Using the official BISP web portal

What to Do If Payments Stop

If your PMT score is above 32 and your payments stop:

  • Confirm your score from the BISP office

  • File a complaint if there is a mistake

  • Update your information if your financial situation has worsened

  • Wait for the next survey, as families can become eligible again if conditions change
