BISP Cash Withdrawals to include new bank charges – check details here

20 September, 2025 12:56

The federal government has announced an important update for Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) beneficiaries. From now on, payments will be made through fully functional bank accounts to ensure a smoother and safer process.

Beneficiaries will be able to withdraw their money from any commercial bank. However, they will need to pay a small bank fee of Rs100–200 on each transaction. This decision was shared during a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation, chaired by Lamees Ali Talpur.

Officials confirmed that 10 million bank accounts have already been opened for BISP recipients. While these accounts are currently inactive, they will become active once beneficiaries start collecting their payments.

According to the Deputy Governor of the State Bank, these accounts will function similarly to regular bank accounts. People will not only be able to withdraw their BISP payments but also deposit money and receive remittances. Importantly, no agents will be involved in the withdrawal process, making it more transparent.

BISP Chairperson noted that digital payments may still be challenging for women beneficiaries, especially in rural areas. Currently, six banks are working with BISP, and efforts are being made to bring all banks under the One Link system for better connectivity.

The BISP Secretary informed the committee that the target of opening one crore (10 million) accounts was achieved within four months, following the Prime Minister’s instructions.

The next phase will introduce full digital transactions within six months, marking a big step towards financial inclusion for millions of families in Pakistan.
