Stampede at Rally of Tamil Actor, Politician Thalapathy Vijay Kills 39, Injures Over 50

At least 39 people were killed and more than 50 were injured in a stampede during a political rally of Tamil film actor and newcomer politician Thalapathy Vijay in India.

The incident took place in Karur district, Tamil Nadu, during a roadshow organized by Vijay’s political party. Authorities confirmed that the victims include women and children.

According to Indian media, chaos broke out during the rally, causing a stampede. Many attendees fainted due to suffocation, resulting in the deaths of 39 people, while several others remain in critical condition.

Reports indicate that the rally venue had a capacity of 10,000 people, but approximately 50,000 gathered, making the crowd uncontrollable.

Witnesses said Vijay immediately stopped his speech upon noticing the situation. He appealed to the crowd to remain calm and urged them to allow ambulances to reach the injured.

Rescue teams and police quickly arrived at the scene. The local administration has launched an investigation into the incident.
