Who is Brilyn Hollyhand? Teen Conservative in Spotlight After Charlie Kirk’s Death
The assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has created a significant leadership void within America’s conservative youth movement, bringing unexpected attention to 19-year-old Brilyn Hollyhand. Once a young podcaster recording from his bedroom, Hollyhand is now emerging as a potential successor to Kirk’s influence, attracting both support and criticism as he navigates the intense pressures of stepping into a highly contentious arena.
Charlie Kirk, who was killed in September 2025, was the founder of Turning Point USA, a prominent conservative organization focused on college campuses. Known for his outspoken right-wing activism and controversial views on politics and culture, Kirk was widely regarded as one of the most influential young conservatives in the U.S. His untimely death left many wondering who would carry forward his brand of activism.
Brilyn Hollyhand’s political engagement began at the age of 11 with the launch of The Brilyn Hollyhand Show, a podcast produced from his bedroom with minimal equipment. His early connection with Kirk, who once praised Hollyhand for being “ahead of the curve” compared to his peers, evolved into a mentorship that helped shape Hollyhand’s path.
Throughout his teenage years, Hollyhand built a growing media presence. He founded The Truth Gazette, a conservative news outlet, and became a frequent commentator on right-leaning platforms such as Fox News. By 18, he authored One Generation Away: Why Now is the Time to Restore American Freedom, a book encouraging young Americans to engage actively in politics. In January 2023, Hollyhand was appointed co-chair of the Republican National Committee’s Youth Advisory Council, cementing his role as an emerging conservative voice.
Following Kirk’s assassination, Hollyhand launched a 10-campus tour titled One Conversation at a Time, sponsored by Turning Point USA and modeled after Kirk’s signature approach of direct student engagement. Although many have labeled Hollyhand as Kirk’s protégé, he himself has stated, “There is no replacement for Charlie Kirk,” while emphasizing his commitment to fostering dialogue and activism among young people.
Hollyhand’s rapid rise has sparked criticism, with detractors questioning his experience and describing him as “a child trying to fill the shoes of a giant.” The heightened scrutiny underscores the challenges he faces as a young leader thrust into the national spotlight.
Since Kirk’s death, Hollyhand has reported that threats against him have tripled, prompting increased security measures at his campus events. Despite these risks, he remains resolute, declaring, “The coward who assassinated my friend wanted to shut my generation up and instead he woke us up.”
With a following of over half a million on social media, Hollyhand commands significant influence among conservative youth. However, his ongoing campus tour is seen as a crucial test of whether he can maintain momentum, inspire supporters, and withstand public pressure. For now, Hollyhand stands as a prominent figure in conservative circles, though his future as a lasting leader remains uncertain.
