Why Patrick Star Trending? Alleged Kanye West Betrayal List Causes Online Buzz

Patrick Star, the beloved SpongeBob SquarePants character, is trending online after a purported “betrayal list” allegedly from Kanye West circulated on social media. The list, which also featured Curious George, Pete Davidson, Kim Kardashian, IShowSpeed, North West, Playboi Carti, LeBron James, and even Hitler, quickly went viral.

The list, however, is fake and was created by fans. In reality, Kanye West shared a different list in March 2025, naming individuals he claimed had betrayed him. That list included John Legend, Pusha T, Common, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, as well as his family and children.

As the parody list spread on X, users humorously added Patrick Star memes, sparking widespread discussion about why the cartoon character appeared on the list. Netizens expressed confusion over the inclusion of figures like Hitler, Harriet Tubman, animated characters, and West’s own daughter, North. Many commenters suggested that the rapper’s public airing of “personal pain” indicated he might need professional help.

Kanye West Critiques Streamers Ahead of Patrick Star List Viral Trend

Before the viral Patrick Star list, Kanye West’s controversial comments about streamers resurfaced. In April 2025, West appeared on a Twitch livestream with producer Digital Nas to discuss his upcoming album, In a Perfect World, slated for release under the title WW3. During the stream, conversation turned to popular content creators.

West had previously praised streamer Kai Cenat, but tensions arose after a planned collaboration between the two was canceled. During the livestream, Kai Cenat highlighted some of West’s past controversial tweets. Digital Nas criticized multiple streamers, while West called Kai Cenat “corny,” explaining that he initially thought Cenat was “cool” but had changed his opinion.

The duo also criticized Aiden Ross and DJ Akademiks. The tensions followed into public events: a month later, during the American Music Awards Red Carpet, Kai Cenat asked a Kanye West fan to leave after they praised the rapper and asked about Cenat’s thoughts.
