Why Was DThang Arrested? Viral Video Shows Bronx Rapper in Court After Miami Charges

30 September, 2025 13:04

(Miami, Florida): Bronx drill rapper Daniel Collins, better known as DThang or DThang Gz, was arrested in Miami early Saturday morning. According to the Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department, he was booked at 4:18 am on September 27 on new drug charges.

What Led to the Arrest?

Police records show that DThang was charged with possession of cannabis (more than 20 grams) and possession of cocaine. These charges add to his previous firearm possession case, for which he had already been out on bond.

A viral video of his recent court appearance shows him wearing a prisoner jumpsuit, standing with his attorney before a Miami judge. In the clip, his lawyer argues against the cannabis charge, claiming the rapper legally purchased marijuana from a smoke shop, as shown by the packaging in designer baggies.

Previous Arrests and Charges

This is not the first time DThang has faced serious legal trouble. On June 29, 2025, he was arrested after allegedly brandishing a firearm and threatening someone in Miami. Officers later confirmed he had a prior felony conviction from April 2023, which made firearm possession illegal for him.

Going further back, DThang was one of 34 alleged members of the River Park Towers (RPT) gang indicted in May 2022. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark and then-NYPD Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell announced the indictments, which included 65 counts such as attempted murder, conspiracy, gang assault, and illegal weapons possession.

Among the shocking charges was an animal cruelty case, where members were accused of beating a pigeon to death on Facebook Live, comparing it to a Crips rival.

The Viral Court Appearance

The latest viral video has spread widely across social media platforms. In it, the judge lists DThang’s charges, while his public defender insists the cannabis was bought legally. However, the cocaine possession charge and his history of prior felonies make his legal situation much more complicated.

What Happens Next?

DThang is expected to remain in custody while his case proceeds. With multiple ongoing charges in both New York and Miami, he faces a difficult legal battle. If convicted, the Bronx rapper could face significant prison time.
