Viral Sora 2 Video of Sam Altman Stealing at Target Sparks Debate

01 October, 2025 10:48

October 1, 2025 – A video of Sam Altman allegedly stealing GPUs from a Target store has gone viral online. The short clip, generated using OpenAI’s new tool Sora 2, looks so realistic that many viewers were shocked. The video was first shared by X user @GabrielPeterss4 and quickly spread across social media.

OpenAI launched Sora 2 on September 30, 2025, as an invite-only video generation app in the US and Canada. The company says it plans to expand globally and eventually release a mobile app to compete with TikTok and Instagram.

Netizens Call It “Dystopian”

While some users praised the technology, many slammed the fake Sam Altman video as “dangerous.”

One user wrote: “This is dystopian, anyone who supports this use of AI is a monster.” Another added that they once supported AI tools but changed their mind after former President Donald Trump used AI-generated videos for political announcements, including a now-deleted clip about “medbed hospitals.”

Others warned about misinformation: “This should scare a lot of people for the future. We already live in an age where the media is skewed.”

Viral Reactions and AI Experiments

Despite the backlash, creators are already experimenting with Sora 2. Users have made TikToks, anime edits, parodies, and fan animations, praising the model’s accuracy. One user said: “Sora 2 is definitely a new step in AI anime.”

Some also believe Sam Altman’s strategy is deliberate: “Sora 2 is about to take over social media… billions in ad revenue will flow once this scales.”

Copyright Concerns

According to a Wall Street Journal report (Sept 29, 2025), insiders claim OpenAI has warned studios and agencies that Sora 2 may use their material unless they explicitly opt out. However, the company insists it will not generate images or videos of recognizable public figures without consent.

Still, videos of Altman, Rick and Morty, and South Park are already circulating online, raising fresh questions about copyright and ethics in AI.
