Who Is Amine Mojito? French Influencer Sentenced to Prison for Fake Syringe Pranks

06 October, 2025 10:13

French social media influencer Amine Mojito, also known as llan Magueron, has been sentenced to 12 months by the Paris Criminal Court on October 3, 2025, over a series of prank videos in which he pretended to use an empty syringe on random individuals.

According to the Free Press Journal, Mojito faces multiple charges related to harassment and threats. The sentence includes six months in prison and a concurrent suspended sentence of six months.

Mojito’s attorney, Marie Claret de Fleurieu, told Liberation that the fixed portion of the sentence is flexible. She added that the court’s latest decision restores a balance between maintaining public order and protecting the fundamental rights of the social media star.

In addition to the prison term, Mojito has been fined €4,500 and prohibited from owning or carrying a weapon for three years. The Paris Criminal Court specifically accused him of “Violence with a weapon not resulting in work incapacity.”

During the hearing, Mojito explained that the prank videos were part of his return to social media to promote a fitness program. He admitted:
“I had the very bad idea of doing these pranks by imitating what I saw on the internet, in Spain, [and] in Portugal. I didn’t think it could hurt people. That was my mistake, I didn’t think about others, I thought about myself.”

Mojito’s prank videos went viral on social media starting in June, raising public concern. According to Where is the Buzz, the clips circulated as France prepared for the Fête de la Musique, amid reports of alleged attacks using needles at festivals and student parties.

The prosecution had sought a harsher sentence, requesting 10 months in prison with an electronic tag, a suspended sentence of five months, and a fine of €1,000. Public prosecutors argued that Mojito encouraged similar acts. In response, his lawyer stated: “He should not pay for what he did not do.”

Mojito also testified that he had deleted the videos as soon as he realized the trouble caused and promised not to repeat such acts, acknowledging that they “bring negative things.”

One of the prank victims’ attorneys, Philippe P., told the court that his client suffered from anxiety and insomnia after the incident. He added that the situation worsened when acquaintances identified the victim in the videos, asking:
“A joke? But at 27, is that how you have fun? By attacking a vulnerable person?”

Mojito first appeared in court on September 5, 2024, and his counsel noted that he had been in pre-trial detention during the summer. As of now, details on where Mojito has been transferred following his sentencing remain pending.
