Who is Kira Cousins? Scotland 'mom' goes viral as she makes fake pregnancy confession
Kira Cousins, a Scotland-based woman, has sparked widespread online attention after apologizing for deceiving her family and friends about being pregnant and having a daughter named Bonnie-Leigh Joyce. In a confession posted on October 21, 2025, Cousins admitted that her entire pregnancy story was fabricated and that she had used a prosthetic baby bump to mislead those close to her. The viral revelation has left many shocked, with Cousins taking full responsibility for the lies she spread.
In her now-deleted Instagram Story, Cousins openly admitted, “I faked scans, messages, a whole birth story, and acted like a doll was a real baby. I know how bad it is, I fu**ed up. I just didn’t know how to stop once I started. I don’t have a proper excuse. I wasn’t in a good headspace, but that doesn’t make what I did okay.” She explained that she had become trapped in the lie and was unsure how to stop it.
The consequences of her actions have been severe, as Cousins acknowledged the harm caused to those who believed her. “Everyone who came to the gender reveal, all the people who gave me gifts or support—I fu**ed up and I hurt a lot of people,” she said. She also extended an apology to the baby’s supposed father and his family, who were inadvertently dragged into the deceit.
Cousins revealed that the truth came out when her mother discovered the baby was a doll rather than a real child. “Prior to this, I had been keeping myself away from literally everyone. The next thing I know, I was confronted by all the family. Don’t for one minute think they let me away with this, they haven’t. And none of them knew. Neither did the dad and his family,” she explained.
The incident had been ongoing for months, with Cousins sharing details of her “pregnancy” on social media and even receiving gifts and clothing for the baby. Friends began to grow suspicious when she refused to allow anyone to touch the newborn, and one of them, Pal Neave McRobert, revealed that Cousins had deleted baby photos and even claimed the baby had died. McRobert later confronted the baby’s father, who confirmed that the child was a doll.
In her most recent apology, Cousins said, “I made you out to be horrible people” and acknowledged the hurt she caused to everyone involved. She has also announced plans to go live on Instagram to further address the controversy and offer more insight into why she fabricated the pregnancy.
As the drama continues to unfold, the details of Kira Cousins’ current occupation and future plans remain unclear.
