Heartbreaking! Landlord in Punjab cuts off cow’s leg for entering his field

30 October, 2025 12:30

A shocking case of animal cruelty has been reported in Punjab, where a landlord allegedly cut off the leg of a cow after it entered his field to graze. The incident took place in Mohal area, Dina tehsil, Jhelum district.

According to initial police information, the cow wandered into the field, which angered the landlord. Police said that the landlord, along with another man, attacked the animal with an axe and severed its leg. The cow was later found lying in the field in a severely injured condition. A case has been registered, and police have started raids to arrest the suspects. The names of the accused have not yet been released.

Officials confirmed that the cow was subjected to extreme brutality simply for entering the farmland. Animal rights activists and locals have condemned the incident, calling for strict action under animal cruelty laws.

This case has revived memories of another horrific incident earlier this year in September 2025, when a young camel named Chandni (Sumi) was brutally tortured in Saleh Pat, Sukkur, after entering farmland in search of food and water. Her leg was crushed and her jaw was broken, sparking nationwide outrage.

Police say they are determined to arrest the suspects in the Jhelum case and take legal action. The injured cow is receiving medical treatment, and authorities are monitoring its condition.
