Odia singer Humane Sagar dies at 36

Odia singer Humane Sagar passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, while receiving treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar.

According to a medical bulletin from AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Sagar was admitted on Friday, November 14, after being diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia, acute chronic liver failure (ACLF), multi-organ dysfunction, and other serious complications. Doctors said that despite advanced treatment, he passed away at 9:08 p.m.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of renowned playback singer Humane Sagar. His demise is an irreparable loss to our music and cinema. I convey my condolences to the bereaved family and pray to God for the peace of the departed soul. Om Shanti.”

Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik also expressed his grief. He wrote, “Deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Humane Sagar, His soulful music has touched the hearts of countless listeners, and his contributions to Odia music will always remain memorable. Along with praying for the eternal peace of his immortal soul, I convey my condolences to the bereaved family members during this sorrowful time.”

AIIMS Bhubaneswar said that Sagar did not respond to treatment despite “aggressive care provided by an expert team of specialist doctors.”

Humane Sagar was just 36 years old. Born in Titlagarh in Bolangir district, he went on to become one of Odisha’s most loved singers. Throughout his career, he sang more than 1,000 songs, earning a huge fan base across the state.
