Fitness Influencer Dmitry Nuyanzin Dies at 30 During Extreme Weight-Gain Experiment

27 November, 2025 15:30

Dmitry Nuyanzin, a fitness coach and influencer from Orenburg, Russia, has died at 30 while attempting a rapid weight-gain challenge tied to the promotion of his new weight-loss program. The experiment, intended to showcase an eventual transformation, resulted in a fatal cardiac arrest brought on by a highly dangerous binge-eating routine.

According to translated reports from his Russian-language social media posts, Nuyanzin consumed as many as 10,000 calories a day. His goal was to gain over 50 pounds in a short span, and within one month, he had already added roughly 30 pounds.

In promotional material for his program, he wrote, “My WEIGHT LOSS COURSE is starting soon, where you can win cool prizes and, most importantly, build a beautiful body, learn how to eat and have fun! I’m going to be losing weight with my minions, so this will be twice as exciting!”

To drive participation, Nuyanzin also offered monetary incentives. Reports note that he pledged $100 to anyone who lost 10% of their body weight through his program by New Year’s.

On November 18, he shared that his weight had surpassed 230 pounds. His extreme food routine consisted of meals high in fat and cholesterol. He described his daily intake in detail:
“For breakfast, I have a plate of pastries and half a cake. For lunch, I usually eat 800 grams of dumplings with mayonnaise. During the day, I may snack on crisps, and for dinner, I have a burger and two small pizzas, either at a café or delivered.”

Growing Concerns Over Extreme Diet Trends

Before his death, Nuyanzin began experiencing illness and missed scheduled training sessions. He reportedly mentioned possibly seeking medical help. Soon afterward, he died in his sleep from cardiac arrest.

Medical experts have long warned of the dangers tied to rapid weight gain and obesity. Brown University highlights the cardiovascular burden of excess body mass, stating:
“The larger the body, the harder the heart must work to pump and circulate the blood. Extra weight also gives the body volume, which creates more resistance for the heart to overcome as it pumps.”

Nuyanzin’s death has now fueled broader discussions about risky dietary stunts designed for online visibility or product marketing, underscoring the severe health threats associated with such extreme challenges.
