Trina Storage Secures Eighth BNEF Tier 1 Ranking Amid Pakistan’s Solar Boom

As Pakistan enters a decisive chapter in its energy transition, global clean-tech player Trina Storage has achieved another milestone: recognition as a Tier 1 Energy Storage Manufacturer by BloombergNEF (BNEF) for the eighth consecutive quarter. This distinction places Trina Storage among the most bankable and trusted providers globally.
Tier 1 status is awarded based on real-world project financing, deployment reliability and technological credibility. With eight consecutive quarters of Tier 1 recognition, Trina Storage stands among the longest-standing record holders in the industry. “Eight consecutive recognitions from BNEF are not just a milestone but a reflection of enduring trust from our partners around the world,” said Mr. Yang Bao, President of Energy Storage Division at Trinasolar. “Trina Storage remains committed to delivering reliable, innovative, and future-ready energy storage solutions that enable a sustainable, net-zero future.”
For Trina Storage, this uninterrupted run reinforces a reputation built on long-term performance rather than quarterly fluctuations. The company has widened its global presence to 23 service centers across more than 100 countries, part of a strategy to support local markets as the energy storage sector matures and shifts from niche to necessity.
In recent months, Trina Storage has announced a series of notable developments across multiple continents. A multi-gigawatt-hour collaboration in Asia-Pacific, key partnerships in Europe and North America, and work beginning on one of Latin America’s largest standalone battery storage projects all point to an industry undergoing rapid scaling. Alongside a recent MoU with Pacific Green Energy Group which will see Trina Storage supply up to 5GWh of grid-scale battery systems between 2026 and 2028 capable of storing and dispatching enough electricity to strengthen nation grids.
As of the first half of 2025, Trina Storage’s global cumulative energy storage system shipments exceeded 12GWh, and annual shipments are expected to reach 8GWh in 2025, reaffirming its strong position in the global market.
The pace of Pakistan’s solar adoption has stunned even long-time energy analysts. According to latest numbers , peak summer demand saw Pakistanis using an estimated 33GW of solar power, exceeding the 28–30GW supplied by the national grid.
New data from NEPRA shows net metering output (excluding Karachi) nearly doubling within a year—from around 80GWh per month in late 2024 to 174GWh per month by mid-2025, hitting more than 300GWh in April during peak sunlight.
This solar wave is being driven by two everyday realities: rising electricity tariffs and recurring grid instability. Households, industries, retailers and offices are turning to rooftop solar not only as an environmental gesture, but as a financial survival strategy. Pakistan now ranks among Asia’s leaders in solar-share penetration, surpassing countries like China and India, according to UK based energy think tank Ember.
As solar spreads across rooftops and industries, the next challenge in Pakistan is clear: scalable energy storage. Trina Storage’s Tier 1 milestone signals that the global storage industry is ready—just as Pakistan reaches a critical moment in its energy transformation.
