‘Delete Facebook’ Campaign Intensifies Over Meta’s New AI Privacy Update

‘Delete Facebook’ Campaign Intensifies Over Meta’s New AI Privacy Update
Following Meta’s announcement of a new privacy update related to artificial intelligence, users worldwide have intensified the online campaign urging others to “Delete Facebook.”
According to Meta, the update will allow the platform to use data from user interactions with chatbots to improve its AI systems. The company stated that this data will only be used for training AI models and providing personalized suggestions, and it will not include private chats, conversations with friends and family, or encrypted messages.
In response to the announcement, social media users expressed strong concern, with many claiming that Meta could now access and analyze users’ photos, voices, texts, and AI-generated chats. Critics argue that the new policy increases the risk of misuse of personal information.
Meta clarified in its statement that the platform will not use sensitive information—such as religious beliefs, health data, sexual orientation, political affiliations, or other personal backgrounds—for analysis or targeted advertising.
The company also emphasized that in cases where AI uses voice input, the microphone will only activate with explicit user permission, with a clear indicator displayed on the screen during its use.
The controversy has reignited debates over digital privacy and user data protection, fueling the ongoing global backlash against the social media giant.
