Alessandro Antonicelli GoFundMe Raises Over €241,000 Following Death

09 December, 2025 15:25

Fitness influencer Alessandro Antonicelli passed away earlier this month after a long battle with health issues, including hospitalization in the final months of his life.

Following his death on Thursday, December 4, Antonicelli’s GoFundMe page has seen overwhelming support from more than 12,000 fans. The fundraiser is dedicated to his project, “Fu Cancer,”** a slogan he created while fighting his illness.

The GoFundMe description detailed that Antonicelli was battling a rare bone cancer known as chondroblastic osteosarcoma and celebrated his resilience and determination to live. The page referenced his Instagram handle, @pettor_ale, highlighting how he conceptualized the project to combat his disease.

“The idea came to him when he lost his hair and eyebrows to chemotherapy. At first, he wore it out of shame, but then that cap became his trademark, almost a part of him. It helped him feel a little more ‘Ale’ and little less ‘cancer.’ Now his hope is that he can do the same for someone else,” the description reads.

Funds from the campaign are being directed to the Milan-based National Cancer Institute to support research and treatment for the disease. The GoFundMe also clarifies:
“The only portion not earmarked for donations is the commission retained by GoFundMe for each donation (2.9% of the amount + €0.25 fixed processing fee per donation). Donating on GoFundMe does not include a hat; it is a voluntary donation.”

As of now, the fundraiser has raised more than €241,000, with a goal of €300,000.

Antonicelli’s official social media account first announced his death, stating that his Fu Cancer** initiative will continue with the same energy he put into it. The page also detailed his extensive health struggles, which began approximately three years ago with an aggressive tumor. He underwent surgery, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, and ultimately lost parts of his quadriceps muscle, femur, knee, and hip joints. Antonicelli also received a femur prosthesis and faced metastases discovered last year.

“During that time, Alessandro chose to move to Milan to pursue his dream of studying Food Sciences and Human Nutrition and continued treatment at the National Cancer Institute in Milan, where he began a course of radiotherapy that, unfortunately, proved ineffective. With the appearance of new metastases, his treatment continued with various types of chemotherapy and a molecularly targeted therapy,” the GoFundMe page stated.

In July, one of the metastases remained active, and his condition worsened over the following months. Antonicelli was hospitalized around three months ago due to severe spinal pain and struggled with mobility in November 2025. He was unable to return home following one of these hospitalizations.

The fundraiser post commemorated Antonicelli’s perseverance, saying:
“Ale is gone, but his example remains. He showed us what it means to hold on to life, even when it hurts. And his words will continue to speak to us: ‘Life is always worth living.’”

During his final year, Antonicelli met Arnold Schwarzenegger in March and secured third place in the national Paralympic weightlifting competition. He also traveled to Japan about a month after his first hospitalization. Throughout his journey, he remained connected with his 190,000+ Instagram followers, inspiring fans worldwide with his determination and positivity.
