UK Cancels Social Media Influencer Rajab Butt’s Visa Amid Legal Issues in Pakistan
The UK Home Department has officially cancelled the visa of social media influencer Rajab Butt, who has reportedly been in hiding for several months due to multiple cases filed against him in Pakistan.
Reports indicate that the UK authorities took this action because of incomplete documentation submitted with Butt’s visa application. It remains uncertain whether the TikTok star will return to Pakistan or move to another country, as he could face arrest in connection with an alleged promotion of a gambling app.
This development follows a high-level meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and British High Commissioner Jane Marriott in Islamabad. During the discussions, the two sides also addressed the repatriation of Pakistanis residing illegally in the United Kingdom.
Extradition documents for Shehzad Akbar and Adil Raja were handed over by the Government of Pakistan, with talks focusing on their immediate transfer to Pakistan. The minister stressed the urgency of repatriating these individuals, as they are wanted in Pakistan.
He added, “Pakistan fully believes in freedom of expression but fake news poses a challenge for every country. No country can allow individuals living abroad to malign and slander the state and its institutions.”
Mohsin Naqvi also emphasized Pakistan’s willingness to cooperate with the UK in facilitating the return of those involved in anti-Pakistan propaganda.
