Who was Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, found dead in LA

Two people were found dead at the Los Angeles home of actor and director Rob Reiner, and police are investigating the case as an apparent homicide, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said on Sunday.

The LAPD did not release the names of the deceased, but a Los Angeles Fire Department official told Reuters that a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were found dead at a home in west Los Angeles, linked to Rob Reiner.

A spokesperson for the Reiner family told CNN, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.” The New York Post and People Magazine also confirmed the couple’s deaths through law enforcement sources.

Condolences have been pouring in. California Governor Gavin Newsom said he was “heartbroken” by Rob’s passing and called him a “big-hearted genius.” The Mayor of Los Angeles called it a “devastating loss for our city and country.” Actor Elijah Wood said he was “horrified” and sent love to the couple’s children. Musician Sean Ono Lennon described Rob as “one of the greatest of all time.”

Rob Reiner, 78, was known for co-starring in the 1970s CBS TV comedy All in the Family and directing famous films such as The Princess Bride, This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally, Stand by Me, and A Few Good Men.

His wife, Michele, 68, was a photographer who once took the photo of Donald Trump that appeared on the cover of Trump: The Art of the Deal.

Born in New York City, Rob was the son of the late comedy writer and actor Carl Reiner and was also known for his political activism. He appeared in ads criticizing George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential election and supported Democratic candidates John Kerry, Al Gore, and Hillary Clinton.

Rob was first married to Penny Marshall, the actress and director famous for Laverne & Shirley. He later married Michele Singer, and the couple had three children together.
