Was Patrick W Cutler Arrested? Truth Behind the Viral Mugshot Post

27 December, 2025 11:08

Patrick W Cutler, a popular TikToker known for his impersonation of the 2004 comedy film Napoleon Dynamite, recently found himself at the center of a viral social media rumor claiming he had been arrested on December 25 for public intoxication near downtown Pittsburgh’s market squares. Cutler even reuploaded a news segment about the alleged arrest to Instagram, captioning it with information that he had been bailed out of jail.

However, the reports and accompanying mugshot are completely false. The news clip has been identified as AI-generated, and there are no official records of Cutler being arrested on Christmas. While some fans initially believed the content to be real, others quickly noted the video’s quality mirrored that of AI-generated media.

TikTok Fame and Career

Patrick W Cutler has amassed over 1.3 million followers on TikTok and more than 1.2 million followers on Instagram, gaining recognition for his comedic impersonations not only of Napoleon Dynamite, but also of figures such as Angel Reese, Joe Biden, and Pope Francis. In addition to his content creation, Cutler has directed and acted in films including The Cottonwood City Project, Mad Dad, Going Nowhere, and The Adventures of Pete and Kit. He is currently working on two upcoming films, Bad Napoleon and Redgate.

According to Famous Birthdays, Cutler hails from Deer Lodge, Montana. His father, Butch Cutler, was an athlete and coach, while his mother, Jeri-Anne Cutler, directed children’s musicals and theatrical productions. He also has three brothers.

Past Incident and Online Attention

Cutler has previously faced real-life challenges. In October 2024, he revealed on Twitter that he had been attacked by a Donald Trump supporter outside a Dallas bar over a joke he made about the former president. He stated,

“I was viciously assaulted last night by a die-hard Trump supporter in downtown Dallas, Texas for simply making a joke he didn’t like. I have video evidence of it, but have decided not to release it at this time for fear of my own life.”

He added humorously that the incident could be referred to as a “Napoleon Dynamite assault tape” but chose to “move on” from the situation. Despite fan requests for the video, Cutler has not shared it.

As the latest Instagram post went viral, supporters rushed to defend Cutler against false arrest rumors, while some critics accused him of using AI to manipulate media content. The situation highlights the growing trend of AI-generated misinformation circulating on social media platforms.

Cutler remains active online, continuing to create comedic content and expand his career in filmmaking.
