Who is Chad Ollinger? Discovery Channel Star Accused of Murder

Chad Ollinger, son of Duane Ollinger, owner of Utah’s Blind Frog Ranch and star of the Discovery Channel series Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch, is now facing murder charges after his cellmate was found dead in a Las Vegas detention center.

According to the Clark County Detention Center, corrections officers discovered the inmate “lying motionless inside a cell” around 11:20 pm on Friday, December 26. The victim reportedly sustained apparent blunt force injuries. Investigators indicated that a physical altercation occurred between Ollinger and his cellmate prior to the death, leading to the current open murder charge.

Ollinger has been behind bars since October 2025 after being arrested as a fugitive from another state. He was scheduled to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court on Sunday, but the hearing was postponed due to alleged disruptive behavior, and it has been rescheduled for Tuesday. Jail records also indicate he is facing a contempt of court charge.

Chad Ollinger is known for appearing alongside his family in Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch, which documents their exploration of the supposedly cursed 160-acre Utah ranch and treasure hunting adventures. He has appeared in 39 episodes over five seasons.

The 29-year-old has faced several legal issues prior to the current case. In November 2024, he was arrested after allegedly running a stoplight on his motorcycle and attempting to flee from law enforcement. At the time, he told TMZ: “All I know is this one thing. It was a hell of a ride until I got off of that Harley crossbone.”

In February 2025, he was arrested in Pampa, Texas, for driving with an invalid license and previous convictions, reportedly exceeding the speed limit. He was booked into Gray County Jail but details of his release remain unclear.

Ollinger’s ongoing legal troubles, coupled with the current murder charge, have drawn significant attention from both media outlets and fans of the Discovery Channel series.
