Middleton & Prince William’s ‘make or break’ moment ahead of major milestone

04 January, 2026 16:05

April 2026 marks 15 years since Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot at London’s Westminster Abbey, a milestone that highlights the enduring strength of their relationship. From their iconic walk down the Abbey steps to building a life together as the ultimate royal power couple, the pair has navigated both public and private challenges with resilience.

“William and Kate look more united today than ever,” royal expert Katie Nicholl tells OK!. “They are a proper partnership, and theirs is a marriage based on friendship, love and mutual respect. They’ve been to hell and back in the past year or two, but they look very, very strong together and they are clearly very in love.”

While the couple has often chosen understated celebrations for their anniversaries, they are known to exchange thoughtful gifts. For example, for their 12th anniversary, William reportedly gifted Kate a diamond ring that once belonged to his mother, Princess Diana, along with a replica of her wedding bouquet. Last year, they marked their 14th anniversary on Scotland’s Isle of Mull with a private getaway.

The couple’s journey has not been without difficulty. Kate’s recent battle with cancer in 2024 forced William to temporarily reduce his royal duties, prioritizing family over formal obligations. “Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance,” Kate said during her treatment.

Likewise, William has faced personal trials, including the fallout from his brother Harry’s estrangement and his father’s cancer diagnosis. “I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done,” he revealed, reflecting on the family’s challenges.

Today, their connection is more evident than ever. From public appearances to intimate moments captured in the video celebrating the end of Kate’s chemotherapy, the couple consistently demonstrates love, respect, and a shared sense of humor.

“William and Kate are quite shy and reserved by nature… but you can really see William’s love and respect, and his devotion to his wife. I think they’ve emerged a lot stronger and even more together,” Nicholl adds.

As Kate approaches her 44th birthday on January 9, 2026, the Princess of Wales looks forward to embracing her royal role while celebrating the enduring partnership she shares with Prince William, alongside their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
