Who Is Samia Parveen? All About Mustafizur Rahman’s Cousin-Turned-Wife!
Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has once again made headlines after reports confirmed that he has been released from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Some media outlets have linked the decision to recent unrest involving Hindu communities in Bangladesh, though neither the BCCI nor the franchise has provided official confirmation.
Amid this uncertainty about his IPL future, fresh reports suggest that Mustafizur has signed up to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Married Life: Who Is Samia Parveen?
While Mustafizur’s cricketing career often dominates the headlines, his personal life has largely remained private. The 30-year-old pacer married his cousin, Samia Parveen, in 2019, with the consent of both families. Media reports indicate that the couple had been in a relationship for around six years prior to their wedding, which aligns with Islamic law.
The ceremony reportedly took place soon after Mustafizur returned from Bangladesh’s tour of New Zealand in 2019, with only close family members in attendance.
According to reports, Samia Parveen was born on February 20, 1996, in Narail. She studied psychology at Dhaka University and comes from a middle-class family. Despite occasionally appearing at cricket events alongside her husband, she prefers to stay out of the public eye and largely avoids social media.
Mustafizur Rahman’s Cricketing Journey
Born on September 6, 1995, in Tetulia village, Satkhira district, Mustafizur Rahman has been a key figure in the Bangladesh national cricket team across all formats. Known for his exceptional death-over variations and control, he made his international debut in 2015: his ODI debut came against India on June 18, T20I debut against Pakistan on April 24, and Test debut against South Africa on July 22 of the same year.
Since then, Mustafizur has collected over 150 wickets in T20Is, more than 175 in ODIs, and 30+ in Test cricket. In the IPL, he has featured in 60 matches, taking 65 wickets at an economy rate slightly above eight. He began his IPL journey with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 and later played for Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings.
