Why Jana Nayagan Movie Postponed? Here's a Reason & New Release Date
Just days before its scheduled theatrical debut, Jana Nayagan has been delayed, disappointing fans eagerly awaiting what is being hailed as Thalapathy Vijay’s final film.
The movie, titled Jana Neta in Hindi, was set to release on January 9, 2026, with advance bookings already open. However, KVN Productions has confirmed that the release has been postponed because the film has yet to receive clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification.
In an official statement, the production house said: “It is with a heavy heart that we share this update with our valued stakeholders and audiences. The release of Jana Nayagan, eagerly awaited on January 9, has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances beyond our control.”
The statement continued, “We deeply understand the anticipation, excitement, and emotions surrounding this film, and this decision has not been an easy one for any of us… The new release date will be announced at the earliest.”
This marks the second delay for the film, which was originally slated for a Diwali 2025 release before being shifted to the Pongal 2026 window. Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan has generated significant buzz, not only for its grand scale but also for being promoted as Vijay’s last cinematic appearance.
The film follows Vetri Kondan, a former police officer and convict, who adopts a young girl and raises her to be fearless and independent, even encouraging her to pursue a career in the military.
