Iran Will Not Surrender Under US Pressure, President Pezeshkian Says

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Tehran remains open to negotiations but will not surrender to US pressure, while reiterating that Iran does not seek to develop nuclear weapons.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, Pezeshkian criticised US sanctions and recent attacks against Iran, describing the measures as unjustifiable and contrary to humanitarian principles.
He also rejected allegations that Iran was pursuing nuclear weapons, arguing that the country had faced what he described as a destructive propaganda campaign.
Pezeshkian maintained that Iran had repeatedly expressed its readiness to negotiate. However, he rejected the idea that economic pressure or military force could compel the country to accept decisions imposed by Washington.
The Iranian president’s remarks underscore Tehran’s stated position that diplomatic engagement remains possible but must not be accompanied by demands it considers coercive.
The dispute over Iran’s nuclear programme has remained a central issue in relations between Tehran and Washington. The United States has sought to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, while Iran has maintained that it does not intend to build them.
Tensions have escalated following military strikes involving the United States and Israel, increasing concerns about the possibility of a wider regional conflict.
Pezeshkian’s comments did not establish whether a new round of negotiations had been scheduled or whether Washington and Tehran had reached an agreement on the conditions for renewed talks.
