Usman Khan faces five-years ban

06 April, 2024 12:16

As expected, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) imposed a five-year ban on Usman Khan for opting to play for Pakistan.

The ban will prohibit him from participating in any leagues within the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during the aforementioned period.

Khan decided to terminate his retainer contract with the ECB, after being selected among 29 players for an ongoing fitness camp at Kakul.

The move breached his ECB contract, thus he has been sanctioned with a five-year ban. He would have been eligible to play for the UAE cricket team from June next year.

Usman had initially been offered a retainer contract by the board with this prospect in mind.

However, he has opted to represent Pakistan instead and has received assurances from the PCB that he will be included in the squad for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
