01 June, 2026 10:53

Karachi is set to experience a hot and humid day on June 1, 2026, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting uncomfortable weather conditions persisting throughout the day.

The PMD recorded a minimum temperature of 29.8°C in the city, with humidity levels reaching 75 percent — a combination that is making the heat feel significantly more intense for residents. Southwesterly winds are currently blowing at 16 kilometres per hour, offering little relief. The maximum temperature for the day is expected to climb between 35°C and 37°C.

Across the country, the meteorological department indicated that most regions would experience mainly hot and dry conditions, with southern districts of Balochistan likely to endure especially severe heat. In contrast, partly cloudy skies accompanied by rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms are forecast at isolated locations in northeastern Punjab, the Pothohar region, northeastern Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas during the afternoon hours.

Morning temperatures recorded across Pakistan’s major cities were as follows: Karachi 30°C, Lahore 26°C, Islamabad 24°C, Peshawar 28°C, Muzaffarabad 21°C, Quetta 20°C, Gilgit 15°C, and Murree 14°C.

Regarding Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the PMD forecast partly cloudy and dry weather for Srinagar, Anantnag, Shopian, Leh, Pulwama, and Baramulla, while Jammu is expected to remain hot and dry. Morning temperatures there were recorded at 14°C in Srinagar, Pulwama, and Baramulla; 26°C in Jammu; 5°C in Leh; and 13°C in both Anantnag and Shopian.
