They accused a local BJP leader Satpal Sharma of having said blasphemous remarks against Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Rasool Allah Khatam-un-Nabiyyin Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

The Wednesday shutdown also aims at denouncing the killing of three innocent labourers by Indian troops in a fake encounter in Shopian last month.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Khawateen Markaz (MKM) has urged the UN and world human rights bodies including the Amnesty International to take notice of extrajudicial killings of innocent Kashmiris.

APHC leader and the MKM Chairperson, Yasmeen Raja made this demand in a statement in Srinagar.

She said that RSS-BJP communal mindset was targeting Muslims in Jammu region and the Indian police and army authorities were backing such extremists in several districts of Jammu.

On the other hand, Indian troops and police arrested four persons in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The police and troops arrested the four persons identified as Imitiyaz Ahmed Dar, Parvaiz Ahmed Kumar, Sajjad Ahmed Dhobi and Shahid Manzoor during house raids in different areas of Shopian.

Meanwhile, Indian police arrested two youth, Zia-ur-Rahman and Muhammad Zahid, from Doda and Ramban areas of Jammu region.
